If you ask people to name a brand they associate with HVAC components, the vast majority of people are going to mention the Carrier name. This company has been at the forefront of HVAC technology since they introduced the first air conditioner ever sold on the market.

Today, that reputation carries through into all their HVAC parts and components, including their line of Carrier compressor models. Choosing the right model for your cooling needs is important, but so is getting the best possible price with a warranty in place.

New, Rebuilt or Remanufactured?

When replacing an existing Carrier compressor or when installing a system you have three options to consider. The first is buying new, which is the most cost-prohibitive option for most businesses and commercial property owners.

The other two options are rebuilt or remanufactured, and they are not the same, which is an important distinction to understand. A rebuilt compressor simply replaces the obviously worn or failed parts and does not provide a full teardown, inspection, repair and rebuild of the compressor. This is why a rebuilt compressor often only provides a very short warranty.

On the other hand, a remanufactured compressor is literally rebuilt from the ground up. All components are removed, cleaned, tested and replaced if necessary with new or recycled components. This results in a final product that is as good as a new compressor, but it costs a lot less.

A remanufactured compressor may use both new and recycled parts, but it is done by a certified shop. Any of the recycled parts used in the process will be tested to meet or exceed all OEM tolerances. In other words, the individual parts used in the remanufacturing process will be as good or better than the new parts.

The option to use recycled parts in a remanufactured compressor helps to reduce waste and to limit the impact on the environment. Only those parts that meet the rigorous testing standards are used. This process of reclaiming parts also helps to reduce the cost of the remanufacturing process.

Choose a Reputable Company

Buying a remanufactured Carrier compressor from a reputable company is a great investment for an HVAC system. These compressors can be shipped from stock, and the current defective compressor returned to the company to itself become a remanufactured model, if possible, or have the recyclable parts removed if not.

Working with a top company offering this service is highly cost effective. It also is much faster and easier than waiting to deal with a local repair service and trying to manage without the HVAC or refrigeration system during the process.
