Registering for a trademark in Dubai can be made simple with the help of some legal documents and assistance. It’s important to register for a trademark as soon as possible so that others do not steal your ideas or intellectual property. In order to claim what’s rightfully yours so that you may be officially registered as a brand or product, you can follow the steps below for successful trademark registration in Dubai.

1. Fill Out an Application

The first step is to fill out an application with the Ministry of Economy 7 Commerce. You must fill these forms out in Arabic, although there is sometimes an English counterpart required as well. Along with filling out the forms, you need to have 14 drawings of the specimen for each mark you are registering a trademark for.

2. Wait for the Ministry to Complete the Procedures

There are many procedures following the application process that must be completed by the Ministry itself. Unfortunately, the best thing you can do during this time is waiting for an answer. The Ministry will search to see if there is any missing information or inappropriate remarks within the application. Once their report is complete, you can either accept the results or file a Plea if you need to re-register.

3. Look for Your Approved Published Trademarks

After the Ministry has approved your application, it will be published in the UAE Official Gazette. It will also need to be published in at least two of the nation’s top leading newspapers, in order to make it official. At this point, you need to see if the public responds to it or not. The public will have 30 days to respond if they have any objections to the trademark. If everything goes off without a hitch, then the Ministry will approve it.

4. Enjoy Your Approved Trademark

After the public has approved it, it goes back to the Ministry for the final approval. If they approve it, then you will be provided further details and the trademark will be yours. But if they should reject, you still have a chance to file an appeal with the help of a corporate lawyer.
